St. John's Episcopal Church is a lovely, peace-filled welcoming church. I visited over 4 years ago and stayed. I enjoy the sermons and especially love the prayers. It's a church where you can come sit in quiet reflection or sing. Whatever your preference. I also like the Episcopalian tradition of offering communion each Sunday. St. John's continues to be place for those who need hope, encouragement and healing.

I found this church on a simple Google search. I had decided to go back to church, and wanted something local in the community. One of things that really stood out to me was the ethnic diversity of members. In this area it was great to find a church with a little of everyone, including some mixed race couples. Second, I feel truly embraced by the members. We were greeted warmly, which has never stopped. The next Sunday when my family and I came back for services the response was, "You're back!" The congregants were as happy as we were of our return. Over the last couple of years, the church has really supported my family and I. While we are not perfect parish (but really, who is), you can always count on a smile, hug, and friendship. I hope other young families find their way here, as St. John's has a lot to offer.

When I first came to St. John's I was far from the religious type. To be honest I went because my wife asked me if I would go. However, when I got there I was impressed that they still had services in the tiny historic chapel that was built in 1768. I was even more taken back by the people. During peace its a mad house. People get out of their pews and walk all around the church. The embraces you get are warm, inviting, and genuine. No one tried to force religion on me. It was actually the opposite. The only comment that was made when the subject happened to come up was that they (the congregation/clergy/vestry as a whole) were glad I came, but understood if it wasn't where I felt the calling. More and more I started attending as often as I could. Soon, I realized that I had joined a family, and not just a church. Just like all families we aren't perfect, but we all care for one another. St. Johns has allowed and helped me to find my calling (keep in mind I still don't think I am hugely religious) through their demonstrations of love and acceptance. It is one thing to hear a church say things related to this, but at St. John's they practice the words that are preached and strive to help one another know God's love. I did change religions upon being confirmed here this past year. This place is a true Gem and was one of the first 30 Churches that Mothered other popular ones in the area. If you are looking for a place to worship we would love to have others join us. Even if this isn't the place you ultimately find your calling; just know that you would be welcomed with smiles and warm embraces. I hope this helps you in your search.
